Event description

🌈 QUEER YOUTH TO THE FRONT 🌈

It's the biggest Pride festival in Melbourne, and we're inviting our entire LGBTQIA+ youth AND their supporters to march with us!

You read that right: you're officially invited to march with Minus18 at this year's Midsumma Pride March. This is your opportunity to join the BIGGEST celebration of LGBTQIA+ community in Melbourne with Minus18, Australia's champions for LGBTQIA+ youth!

Our youth events are always strictly for young people aged 12 to 19. Pride March though, is a unique opportunity for parents, guardians, family members, friends, supporters, and allies to stand proudly alongside the LGBTQIA+ young people in their lives. So yes, bring your family! Pets! Friends! Sports team! School Pride group! Our whole community is invited to strut down Fitzroy Street with us.

Plus: the first 150 young people who arrive on the day will receive exclusive early access to Queer Formal tickets (which always, always sells out)!

Registrations are absolutely free, but essential.

In the meantime, head here for details directly from Midsumma about the day

Why march with Minus18?

  • The first 150 registrations (youth aged 12 to 19 only) will get early access to Queer Formal Melbourne! (More about that in a sec)
  • We'll make sure everyone's organised and corral everyone for the march
  • Young people (12 to 19) will be prioritised to be able to march at the front
  • Never joined or attended a Minus18 event? That's okay! Any queer young person is invited to join in our safe and supportive group
  • Youth workers will be marching with us! You bring yourself, let us handle the youth safety

Information for groups and adults:

Are you a teacher, pride group leader, community org or an adult supporting multiple queer young people? We'd love to have you march with Minus18.

Please register your group of LGBTQIA+ young people using either of our group ticket options. We may get in touch prior to the event to discuss your group size, and to see how we can support you and your group to join us.

And as for parents, guardians, carers and family members? We can't wait to see you! Pride March is a unique opportunity for you to stand with your LGBTQIA+ young people, and we love seeing you in the march. The more, the merrier! Please note though, that all adults must march with a young person. No solo adults will be admitted.

What about that early access to Queer Formal?

It's true! The first 150 individual young people to register (and then turn up to the event on the day) will receive early access to our most popular event of the year: Queer Formal Melbourne!

Stay tuned for exactly how, but for now: all you need to do is register, then march with us on February 2nd!

      Who is Minus18?

We're Australia's champions for LGBTQIA+ youth! We host life-affirming events for queer young people, including our flagship Queer Formals in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.

We also host digital events for queer young people to connect with community, no matter their location.

And for adults? We run LGBTQIA+ professional training for workplaces and schools, create inclusion campaigns, and have an online pride shop for LGBTQIA+ community and allies.

Minus18 acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations as the traditional custodians of the land on which this event is taking place. We acknowledge their continued connection and contribution to land, water and community, and pay our respects to Elders past and present. Sovereignty was never ceded; this always was and always will be, Aboriginal land.
