Description

It’s Carnival Y’all! Come get festive with us while learning some basic woodworking skills. In this workshop participants will learn how to use a jigsaw and drills to make a Mardi Gras door hanger or lawn art. Participants will be able to paint their signs and we will go over options for protecting the signs from the elements. Each participant will receive a 24”x24” piece of plywood for their project and we will have templates for a fleur de lis, bead dog, and Mardi Gras masks. Participants are welcome to bring their own template or free hand a different design. This class is open to all! No woodworking experience required.

The Workshop is a female owned community makerspace that provides access to tools and education for New Orleanians of all skill sets. We seek to eliminate barriers to entry in the fields of design and fabrication through access, education, and community building.

At Community Workshop NOLA, we proudly serve women, BIPOC individuals, the queer community, and allies. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. To maintain this culture, we have shop monitors who will be available two days a week to address any concerns and encourage open dialogue.
