Margaret Forrest, A Premier Position - author talk by Chris Holyday

As Margaret Elvire Hamersley, she was raised in the backblocks of Australian colonial life; as Lady Forrest, she died the widow of Australia's first Peer of the Realm. The story of her life may help to integrate Westralian and National history, as well as draw attention to the conspicuous lack of female portraits in Australian historiography.
As part of the Australian Heritage FestivalĀ 2024, we invite you to join local author Chris Holyday at Stirling Libraries - Karrinyup to hear about Margaret Hamersley'sĀ fascinating life. Chris is the author of several local history books, including the 2022 title Recollections from the coast: remember old North Beach, Trigg, Watermans Bay and Marmion. His most recent work is A Premier Position, which will be available for purchase on the day. Please bring cash for book purchases.
