Maria Woodford is a powerhouse singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose music fuses blues, traditional folk, jazz, and antifolk with raw emotion and masterful musicianship. A forerunner in the 1990s antifolk movement, she has built a reputation for both her electrifying performances and her habit of working with the very best innovative musicians available.

Her album Bad Dog Blues featured a standout cover of Nina Simone’s Do I Move You—a rendition so powerful that Simone’s daughter personally called Maria to grant her the rights, refusing to take payment, making her one of only two artists ever approved from countless applicants.

With a voice that lingers long after the last note, a habit for collecting innovative players with blistering musicianship, and a presence that commands the stage, Maria Woodford is an artist you won’t forget.
