MARS X MUDS PCB Design Workshop
Event description
Ever wondered how the circuit boards inside your phone, drone, or rover are designed? 🚀
Join the Macquarie Aerospace Rover Society (MARS) and Macquarie University Drone Society (MUDS) for a hands-on PCB Design Workshop! Over two sessions, you’ll learn how to take an idea from a circuit diagram all the way to a manufactured printed circuit board.
Using KiCad (a free, open-source tool), we’ll guide you step by step through:
✅ Drawing schematics and creating component libraries
✅ Laying out your first PCB design
✅ Applying design rules and best practices
✅ Preparing files for manufacturing (JLCPCB, PCBWay)
✅ Understanding BOMs, assembly, and common beginner mistakes
No prior experience is required — just bring your laptop and a curiosity for electronics. By the end, you’ll have the skills and confidence to start designing your own custom PCBs.
And yes, pizza is included 🍕
📅 Dates: 26th & 29th August 2025
