Prepare to be dazzled as The Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra presents MARVELS, a program that brings together some of the most awe-inspiring works which are seldom performed as part of the mainstay of the standard orchestral repertoire. 

Conductor Jeremy Kindl leads the WPO through this exciting selection, beginning with Cimarosa’s spirited Il Matrimonio Segreto Overture. This overture, filled with lively rhythms and sparkling melodies, sets the stage with a sense of theatrical flair, capturing the light-hearted energy of a comedic opera. 

Next, Beethoven’s powerful Choral Fantasy takes centre stage, featuring the brilliant soloist Paul Cheung. This piece is a marvel of surprising orchestration, combining everything from piano, a  quartet, a symphony orchestra and more in a grand celebration of harmony and human creativity. This work reaches marvellous  experimental heights and is a testament to the unifying power of music and the genus of Beethoven.

The evening culminates with Wagner’s rarely performed youthful work, his Symphony in C. A magnificent work that showcases his early Romantic style. With sweeping themes, dramatic intensity, and rich harmonic textures, this symphony is a marvel of emotional depth and musical craftsmanship.
