Saidiya Hartman is the author of Wayward Lives, Beautiful Experiments, Lose Your Mother and Scenes of Subjection. She has been a MacArthur Fellow, Guggenheim Fellow, Cullman Fellow, and Fulbright Scholar. She is a University Professor at Columbia University and lives in New York.
