Description

Join Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and the Concrete Masonry Association of Australia (CMAA) in Brisbane on 8 October for the Masonry Research and Innovation Forum — an evening bringing together researchers, architects, engineers, designers, contractors, manufacturers and industry leaders to explore the latest advances in masonry research, technology and design.

The forum will showcase the latest QUT research into mortarless masonry, undertaken in collaboration with CMAA, including new insights into structural performance, constructability and the opportunities for mortarless systems in Australian construction. We will also explore the rapidly evolving role of robotics and automated brick and block laying, examining how emerging technologies could transform masonry construction and address productivity, safety and labour challenges.

The program will also delve into the renewed potential of breeze block masonry, exploring advances in both structural design and architectural application. From innovative façade and screening systems to engineered structural solutions, the session will demonstrate how breeze block can combine performance, functionality and architectural expression.

The Masonry Research and Innovation Forum provides a unique opportunity to connect research with industry practice, share emerging ideas and consider what the future of masonry construction could look like. Through presentations, technical discussion and networking, QUT and CMAA will bring together industry and academia to showcase research, innovation and practical solutions that can help build a more efficient, resilient and innovative Australian construction sector.
