Event description

ABOUT ASSERTING YOURSELF AT WORK

Are you often given feedback about being more confident? Do you find it hard to speak up in meetings? Are you overlooked for promotion or feel that people don't take your ideas seriously? Do you want to progress but are worried about stepping into the spotlight?

You are not alone, and you are in the right place.

I have coached and worked with hundreds of women over the last five years, here in Australia and the UK, and one of the most common themes we explore is 'how can I assert myself more at work so that others listen'.

In this masterclass, you will learn that there are some systemic reasons why it can be hard to be heard at work, and, most importantly, what you can do about it. This masterclass is not a cookie-cutter approach. What works for one person will not necessarily work for others. We will explore the patterns that we may have fallen into, work out what to do about it and develop a strategy for applying our new insights in ways that cut through to action.

WHAT YOU WILL GET FOR YOUR INVESTMENT

  • 4 hours of live online learning
  • a workbook with all of the theory, practices and space to take notes so you can continue learning long after the class
  • At least two rounds of feedback on how you communicate
  • A buddy for check in and accountability
  • Discount codes for future masterclasses
  • An action plan for next steps
  • A resources list
  • Free monthly newsletter with carefully curated resources to help you continue your leadership journey
  • Strategies and techniques that will improve your leadership style where ever you are in your career (someone on our last course used the techniques the very next day in a job interview and landed the role!)

If you would like to participate but don't have the money right now, please drop Kirsty@SimplyCoaching.net an email and we can explore if one of our scholarship positions would be right for you.

SMALL GROUPS FOR FOCUSSED LEARNING

The masterclasses have a maximum of twenty people so that everyone gets lots of individual attention. The class is designed to blend theory, practice and feedback. They are delivered over two, two-hour sessions, entirely live and online. This structure builds on the theory of how adults learn best - providing space in between sessions to apply and reflect on your learning. We will spend time in the larger group and smaller circles for reflection and focused learning.

You will also receive a workbook complete with theory, sources, activities and space to take notes so that you can refer back and continue to learn and put solutions into practice long after the master class has finished.

WHAT WE WILL COVER

Session 1 | Thursday 15th July 19:30 - 21:30

Together, we will name and bust some of the myths about being heard at work and identify the parts we can take responsibility for. We will hear from an expert panel at different stages of their careers. Together we will explore their experiences, hints and tips and how to handle those 'kick yourself' moments when you wish you had spoken up and didn't. We will consider what good conversations look and feel like, identifying our focus areas for improvement.

In between reflection

In between session one and session two, we will ask you to do some self-reflection, identifying those situations you find most challenging, most comfortable, and seek to understand more about where we might want to make positive change.

Session 2 | Thursday 22nd July 19:30 - 21:30

In the final session, we will bring together our insights from session one and our reflections and focus on designing and trying out some strategies that will work for you. You will learn to give and receive feedback from others, and by the end of the session, you will be ready to try and put some techniques in place to help assert yourself in ways that gets others to listen.
