Hiring for Attitude – Valuable Interviewing Tips for Functional Leaders

“You don’t hire for skills, you hire for attitude. You can always teach skills.”
Herb Kelleher, Co-founder and former CEO of Southwest Airlines

Functional leaders are often highly competent in their chosen fields, but when it comes to interviewing, it can be easy to focus heavily on technical capability, experience, measurable achievements and demonstrated business impact.

While these are important, how someone works can be just as important as what they can do.

This session explores how to validate a candidate’s resume while digging deeper into the attitudes, behaviours and leadership traits that influence collaboration, adaptability and long-term success.

With Fuse Recruitment interviewing thousands of candidates each year, their team brings extensive real-world insight into what employers should be looking for in today’s competitive manufacturing workforce.

The session will provide practical tips and strategies to help functional leaders sharpen their interviewing approach, identify the right behaviours and make better hiring decisions.

Why Attend

  • Learn directly from Fuse Recruitment’s experience with today’s manufacturing workforce.

  • Reframe the interview process to look beyond skills and experience.

  • Discover practical techniques for identifying attitude, behaviours and cultural fit.

What You’ll Walk Away With

  • Practical tips and strategies for hiring for attitude.
