Event description

This masterclass will focus on Revealing the Mystery of Contracts

With guest presenter: Dr jur Annemarie Hofedank

Contracts aren’t just for lawyers!

Have you ever faced the daunting task of buying equipment, or sourcing a new supplier, or setting up a sales contract? Maybe you have legal support, but does the lawyer really understand what you need? And do you know which information you should prepare and provide from your end to get what you require?

There is a ‘grey’ area that lies between the ‘reality’ of what you need, and the ‘legal jargon’ that can confuse the whole transaction.

This short but valuable masterclass will help to ‘demystify’ the writing and delivering of a contract – for non-lawyers!

This event will explain and reveal:

  • Why you should have a basic understanding of the appearance and functions of contracts.
  • The mystery of contracts – by no means just a task for lawyers!
  • The biggest misconceptions about contracts and their potentially disastrous effects.
  • When things went wrong - case studies of small and large disasters.
  • How can you save your company considerable amounts of legal fees, minimise risks, and obtain contracts that actually benefit your company?
  • What distinguishes good contracts from bad contracts and where are the significant risks and benefits of contracts (e.g., avoiding disputes and resolving problems before the horse bolted)?
  • The role of engineers, buyers, and sellers as key figures in contract drafting and negotiations - Why you have much more control and influence over contracts (and the resulting business success) than you think!

Join us for this short masterclass by Dr. jur. Annemarie Hofedank from Loreley Visions Pty Ltd who will help you in a fun and interactive way to navigate more confidently through the treacherous waters of contracts.

In this session Annemarie will highlight a selection of pitfalls and solutions without legalese language. She will demonstrate the essential connections between the daily tasks of engineers, buyers, project managers and salespeople on one hand and contracts on the other, and how you can reduce risks and increase security within your own work domain.

There will be a short Q&A at the end of her presentation.

This event serves as a valuable introduction to this relevant topic. For those wishing to expand on the session, Annemarie runs a fun and informative full day workshop that we will be supporting in 2024.
Recent feedback from Annemarie’s training:
“Fresh approach that made it easy to understand!”
“The course highlighted the gaps we have in our company and the improvements we can make!”
“This was a very knowledgeable workshop. Changed my view to look at the contracts. Thank you very much!”
“Very praxis oriented and well transferrable into our business!”
