Masterclass | Value Beyond Cost – thriving on the supply side.
Event description
Value Beyond Cost – thriving on the supply side.
In today’s volatile world, cost-down strategies alone are no longer enough to deliver sustainable outcomes. The pandemic reinforced that risk is the biggest issue in business, while the simultaneous rise of ESG demands has forced organisations to rethink how they create and capture value across their supply chains. The challenge for supply-side managers is clear: how do you balance competing demands to deliver better, faster, cheaper, safer, and greener outcomes for all stakeholders?
Guiding this conversation is Jonathan Dutton FCIPS FCIM, one of the region’s most experienced procurement leaders. Over a long career spanning procurement, sales, marketing, and general management, Jonathan has been both buyer and seller — giving him a rare, 360-degree view of the supply side. As a former founding CEO of CIPS in this region, CEO of PASA, and now a sought-after consultant, author, speaker, and trainer working across six countries, Jonathan brings deep insights and practical strategies that help organisations unlock real value beyond cost. His 45-minute presentation will set the stage for an engaging and thought-provoking session.
Adding further depth, Lauren Jones, Head of Client Services at Supply Clusters, will present two practical case studies that bring the theory to life. One case study shows how ESG-mandated CO₂ reporting was achieved through centralised systems that also delivered strong commercial outcomes. The other highlights how a multi-site client reduced 18% waste while achieving cost savings, Indigenous procurement outcomes, and ESG reporting aligned to their 2030 targets.
The session concludes with an interactive Q&A with Jonathan and Lauren, offering attendees the opportunity to apply these lessons to their own challenges.
Our presenters:
Jonathan Dutton has been a buyer and a seller over a long career centered around procurement. His first job was in procurement and, over time, he moved into sales, then marketing, general management, and back to sales in organisations both large and small. Today, he works as an independent consultant, author, speaker, and trainer for busy procurement teams in six countries. But also for sales teams actually selling to procurement managers – which includes his successful sales training program, Managing The Buyer. He has been a non-exec and advisor to Supply Clusters since 2018 and was also for 9 years the founding CEO for the procurement peak body in this region, CIPS: and subsequently the CEO for the largest procurement conferences & events provider in ANZ – PASA.
Lauren Jones is a highly regarded subject matter facilitator with deep expertise in guiding organisations through complex procurement challenges. At Supply Clusters, she partners closely with clients to explore and align procurement strategies that deliver cost improvements, strengthen compliance, improve data insights, and achieve meaningful ESG and social spend outcomes. With a strong focus on data insights and practical application, Lauren will share a case study that offers attendees actionable learnings to enhance procurement’s impact across financial, compliance, and social dimensions.
