Masterclass: Supporting Autistic People with Eating Disorders (Including ARFID) with Annie Crowe

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Reframing Autism invites you to join Annie Crowe for a masterclass on supporting Autistic young people with eating disorders (including ARFID).

This masterclass will focus on understanding eating challenges in a neuro-affirming light, unpacking unconscious bias, accessing neuro-affirming healthcare, advocating for support needs, and importantly understanding how our unique traits (sensory, executive function, stimming, social anxiety, demand avoidance, etc.) impact our eating and feeding behaviours and how we can support this. Annie brings a wealth of expertise in understanding the complexity of our Autistic traits, translating them and the impact of health systems, society and culture on our neurodivergent identity and experience. This presentation will focus on both Autistic adults and parents supporting their Autistic child.

Annie is an Autistic ADHD Lawyer and Disability Rights Advocate. In 2022, she successfully founded the not-for-profit Eating Disorders Neurodiversity Australia (EDNA), which in less than a year has had a profound impact on our national eating disorder health sector. Annie is a sought after international speaker on neuro-accessible and affirming healthcare on topics including eating disorders, mental health and chronic illness.

Please note: this Masterclass is not an introduction to Autism, and a level of knowledge about Autism and neurodiversity will be assumed. For parents, we recommend that you undertake Reframing Autism's introductory workshop Neurodiversity, Autism and the joy of parenting differently wired children before enrolling in Masterclass opportunities.

A link to the Zoom workshop will be emailed to you prior to the event.

If you are unable to attend this Masterclass at the scheduled time, please note that it will be recorded. A link (valid for 30 days after the event) will be sent to all attendees the next business day after the Masterclass concludes, so that you may watch it at a time that is suitable for you.

Ticket sales close 5pm Tuesday June 13, 2023 (AEST).

Did you know? If your child has an NDIS plan that includes a budget line for parent education, and you are plan- or self-managed, you may be able to claim your registration costs for Reframing Autism events from your child’s NDIS funding.
