Paul has 30 years corporate experience across finance, banking, academia and management education. Prior to founding AcademyGlobal, a partner of AGSM, he spent a decade across Deloitte and Citi in roles including Director and VP. Paul sits on the Australian Institute of Company Directors NSW Council and has served on three boards as NED. Since 2010, he has developed executive short courses with a number of Australia’s leading universities and professional associations.Â
Peter Croft
Program DirectorPeter Croft BE (Hons), MBA, GAICD
Highly experienced C-Level technology industry executive with experience of leading multiple company acquisitions and integrations. Peter was a senior executive at publicly listed Allocate Software when they were acquired by UK based PE firm, Hg Capital in 2016. Peter has extensive experience in driving growth in organisations while managing the dislocating change that comes with post-acquisition integration. After a 30-year corporate career during which Peter has held directorships in Australia, the USA, The UK, Malaysia and Singapore, Peter now runs his own consultancy focused on deal origination and advisory services in corporate M&A.

Rachael Bassil

Rachael specialises in mergers and acquisitions, equity capital market transactions and advising on securities law and listing rule matters. Rachael works closely with private equity sponsors at every stage of their investments including private acquisitions, partnering with founders, public to privates (by way of scheme or takeover), bolt-on acquisitions and exits including managing auction processes and IPOs.Rachael has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry and is regularly ranked as a leading private equity, equity capital markets and M&A lawyer in Australia.Rachael's experience includes working at another top tier Australian law firm. Rachael has university qualifications in commerce and law from the University of New South Wales.
Aaron Black
Partner, Deloitte
Aaron has 19 years’ experience in investment banking across mergers & acquisitions and equity capital markets working for Macquarie and UBS. Aaron provides advisory services to both private and public companies on mergers, acquisitions, divestments and public & private capital raising transactions.Aaron has worked across a broad range of industries including technology, financial services, mining services, infrastructure services, healthcare, consumer products, business services, retail, media, telecommunications, and manufacturing.As a senior member of Macquarie Capital for 14 years, Aaron has a strong understanding of corporate strategy, business development, M&A and positioning corporates with investors.
Andrew Turner
Partner, Johnson Winter Slattery
Andrew is a corporate lawyer with extensive experience across a range of domestic and cross-border matters, in particular private equity and venture capital transactions, foreign investment and private treaty M&A.He advises financial sponsors and major corporates on domestic and cross-border acquisitions and disposals, as well as advising on management incentive plans and general corporate matters for private equity portfolio companies.He has a particular focus on technology and software transactions, and regularly advises US- and UK-based clients on acquisitions and investments in Australian businesses in the tech space, helping them navigate the differences in market practice between jurisdictions and advising on Australia’s foreign investment laws.Andrew brings significant international expertise, having practiced at a leading London City firm and spent time on secondment at a London-based private equity fund, where he advised on the divestment of businesses based in the United States, Brazil and Italy, as well as general corporate and funds management matters.
Jacob Van der Wiel

Jacob Van der Wiel is a Director in the Private Capital Asia team. Jacob joined BPEA in 2017 and was part of BPEA when the company joined forces with EQT and was renamed EQT Private Capital Asia.Prior to joining BPEA, Jacob worked for Vista Equity Partners focused on enterprise software investing in the US and APAC.Jacob holds a B.B.A. in Accounting and B.A. in Asian Cultures and Languages (Chinese) with High Honors from The University of Texas at Austin.
Matt Durston
Oolio
Matt has worked with 4 Private Equity businesses based in Australia, US & the UK and 5 portfolio companies. As a C-Suite executive he has operated on both sides of the fence, working in a business that was acquired, helped facilitate an acquisition, turning around a business for acquisition, post-acquisition integration and delivering growth initiatives based upon an investment thesis. Currently his role is Group Chief of Staff at Oolio Group who is partnered with Pemba Capital Partners in Sydney. Matt has completed the integration of a public to private add on for Oolio and is now focused on growth and systems projects as enablers towards the next investment cycle for Oolio. Matt has a Professional Services background in Healthcare and Defence. A strong track record of delivery excellence, improving the customer experience and managing complex account relationships in large enterprises. He enjoys mentoring and coaching as an enabler to identifying future talent and leaders.Matt moved with his family to Sydney for a specific project with Allocate Software for 2 years back in 2016. Finishing up with Allocate after 2 rounds of PE ownership in 2021 as MD APAC, he then started a small consultancy practice and began working with Pemba. In Oct 22 Matt joined Oolio Group as a member of the Senior Leadership Team working alongside the Group CEO.
Ian Kwan
Senior Lecturer, UNSW School of Banking and Finance
Ian is a Senior Lecturer and Education Focussed academic in Finance at UNSW’s School of Banking and Finance. He holds a PhD in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Navarra, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Business at the University of New South Wales, and a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) also from the University of New South Wales.
As an Education Focussed Academic, Ian is an enthusiastic educator in finance with almost 15 years of experience teaching finance at a tertiary level.Â
