About the Workshop

Tough (or difficult) conversations. Many leaders don't want to have to deal with them in the workplace even though they know that putting them off can be damaging to their team!

A CMI survey found that 57% of respondents said they would do almost anything to avoid a difficult conversation. 52% said they would rather put up with a negative situation at work than have to talk about it. 43% feared not knowing how the other person will respond.

As a leader you often need to deliver unwelcome, unwanted or unexpected messages. It’s rarely easy, but knowing HOW to deliver them will lift your confidence and importantly help you maintain positive and productive relationships. You can absolutely get the best performance and the deepest engagement from your team by saying what needs to be said with compassion and candour. Think this sounds too easy? Once you know the steps, you'll know you've got what it takes to handle it!

We’ll explore...

-Overcoming your own resistance to having tough conversations

-Noticing emotions in yourself and others that may impact the conversation

-How your brain and body respond to the stress of tough or triggering conversations

-Key things to consider before you have the conversation

-How to set a clear and collaborative tone from the start

-Maintaining composure even if the other person gets upset or defensive

-Responding to derailing reactions so the conversation remains productive

-How to effectively listen to and acknowledge the other persons perspective (even if you disagree)

-Setting clear expectations and creating accountability without feeling like a micro-manager

-How to manage workplace drama

PLUS You’ll get our 6-step framework to Compassionate Candour and a practical planning tool to help you master tough conversations.

By the end of this workshop you’ll wonder why you’ve been putting off those important conversations!
