MATAAOHO KAHUWAI FASHION SHOW

Kahuwai Clothing  is an award winning high end boutique  Maori Fashion brand based in Dunedin, Aotearoa.

Designer and Director Amber Bridgman has the opportunity of a life time to represent her whanau, hapu, community and Aotearoa on an international platform, in Paris and London Fashion week in September 2022. 

Travelling along with her are her twin sons who will be modelling for her and other designers aboard in all shows.

These fashion shows are the chance of a life time for both Designer Amber Bridgman and Te Kahurangi and Nukuroa to make a large splash in an international platform.

Amber is a multi media Artist who is  traditionally trained in Maori mahi toi specialising in Raraka and textiles bound together with her upbringing by her Hakui Mother a seamstress, and other creatives in her whanau circle. She creates Tribal Haute Couture garments and accessories that are one of a kind. Her work is unique and very authentic This craftsmanship is brought to life through her indigenous whakapapa and will showcase on to the Runways of Paris and London, this  is a very exciting opportunity for a Kai Tahu Mother of four from Te Wai Pounamu. 

MATAAOHO is her first SOLO show of this scale with over 50 local models

This is one event that will inspire and uplift ones spirit and be an exclusive opportunity to view 20 years of Ambers work, purchase from the Kahuwai pop up shop, take part in a silent auction which will include items from a variety of local businesses, as well as view her new collection before it departs to Paris and London in a setting filled with good vibes, good people and entertainment by local and national musicians, djs and mcees all whilst supporting her and her whanau on this amazing haerenga.

PHOTO BOOTH SESSIONS available.  Old Time style photo booth session available on site with the opportunity to dress in Haute Tribal Couture and have your portrait taken.  Solo and family portrait options available as well as digital and hardcopy options at cost.  

This trip aboard is self funded by the Artist, and is so grateful for all the awhi and support her community has given her over the years and for this night! It takes a village to raise a child, it is those Aunties that have helped guide her into many opportunities and places that she has excelled in.

All ticket sales and funds raised on the night will go directly to travel and accomodation costs for her and the twins to travel to Paris and London as well as towards the show entry fees.
