Participatory Theatre: Creating Connection, Creativity and Community

Perseverance Street Theatre Company is proud to launch a new participatory theatre initiative through the Mature Women’s Acting Hub, facilitated by Dr Sharon Hogan. This exciting project invites mature women to become part of a creative ensemble dedicated to developing original theatre inspired by the voices and experiences of its participants.

Calling all playwrights, storytellers, directors and actors. Whether you are an experienced theatre maker or someone with a story waiting to be told, this project offers an opportunity to contribute to a collaborative artistic process. Through writing, improvisation, discussion and performance, participants work together to create original theatre that reflects their perspectives, memories and ideas. The process is collaborative, supportive and often transformative.

Join this powerful space to rediscover creativity, explore new possibilities and connect with a vibrant community of like-minded women.

The project begins with a Meet and Greet for Interested Creatives on:

Friday 2 October
9.00am – 11.00am

4/24 Barter Street - Perseverance Street Studio

This informal gathering will introduce the project, provide an opportunity to meet fellow participants and explore ideas for the creative journey ahead.

The project officially commences on:

Friday 9 October

and continues every Friday throughout October from:

9.00am – 12.00pm – Theatre Making Workshops
12.00pm – 1.00pm – Team Lunch

Participants can choose how they would like to engage in the project, taking on roles as playwrights, directors or actors, or exploring a combination of these creative pathways.

Stage One: Writing and Devising

The first stage invites mature women to join a collaborative devising group. Together, participants will select a theme that resonates with the group and develop original material inspired by their experiences, ideas and imagination. Through writing, discussion, improvisation and creative exploration, the group will work collectively to illuminate the stories and voices of its members.

No previous professional experience is required—only curiosity, creativity and a willingness to collaborate.

Stage One: $80 per participant ( This is a subsidised program)

Stage Two: Performance - Please note that participants in stage one are not required to perform.

Launching in February, the second stage of the project brings the creative work of the writers and devisers to life through performance. Original stories developed during the workshops will be transformed into a live theatrical production that celebrates the creativity, wisdom and perspectives of mature women.

The Mature Women’s Acting Hub believes that mature women's stories deserve to be seen, heard and celebrated. This project offers an opportunity not only to create theatre, but also to build community, foster confidence and contribute to a meaningful artistic collaboration.

Register now for the Meet and Greet and become part of this exciting new creative venture.
