Celebrate YOU at MAV’s Block Partee!

Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) is proud to announce the highly anticipated Block Partee, an unmissable free event bringing vibrant cultureand creative fire to Preston on Saturday, 22 February 2025.

From late afternoon at 3PM until 8PM sunset, the Melbourne Polytechnic Student Carpark, 77 St Georges Road, will transform into tapestry of artist-led and curated live music, art, conversation for everyone to enjoy. Through BLOCK PARTEE, MAV aims to welcome in creatives and contributors to find inspiration, new perspectives and the courage to speak truths and to celebrate diverse cultures and artforms. Honouring its new place on unceded land, MAV’s BLOCK PARTEE encourages a deeper andmore engaged connection to multicultural art and communities.

LIVE PERFORMANCES/MEANINGFUL MUSIC:

The legendary mammoth ensemble Public Opinion Afro Orchestra will bring the house down with their Afrobeat rhythms in 120-minute continuous high energy performance, while Vida Sunshyne will hit you with an electric blend of meaningful soul and raw energy. Watch out for J Verse, the one to watch making strides in hip hop and R&B on and off-shore. With Soju Gang and Solidarity Sound System the enlightenment is complete, while MzRizk and a special guest will keep the decks on fire.

Get ready to move, groove, and lose yourself in the music.


RHYME N ROOTS

It’s time for a battle of words. Watch as 3 spoken word artists and 3 rappers go head-to-head, trading rhymes in a dynamic, co-creative space. ARTIST ROUNDTABLES WITH BEING BIRACIAL PODCAST LIVE

Hosted by Maria and Kate of Being Biracial Podcast, are live artist roundtables. We’re diving into juicy topics around the lived experience ofartists from culturally diverse backgrounds and what it means to tell story on these lands.

Networking with a twist. These high-energy sessions are designed to spark new collaborations and ideas, connecting culturally diverse creatives to start projects that push the envelope.
