Event description

The usual great May Day Concert with a cast of "thousands" , headed up by:

Maurie Mulheron :a singer, multi-instrumentalist and playwright. Perhaps his best-known work is the musical-biography of Pete Seeger called "One Word...WE!" as well as an earlier show called ‘How Can I Keep From Singing’. Both have played in theatres and festivals around Australia. Maurie was able to collaborate with Pete Seeger on the script including visiting him in his home in upstate New York. Maurie has led numerous bands including ‘The Rattlers’ and ‘Just A Tad and Moz’  both with Pat Craigie, as well as doing performances on the life of Woody Guthrie and Phil Ochs.

Paul Spencer: Relentless and cheerful folk satire. Paul Spencer writes quirky comic political folk songs to entertain the activist in you or re-energise the jaded cynic. Paul's songs touch the heart. Whether they are cheeky political jibes and satire, strong social justice messages, or touching personal insights, the lyrics contain an authenticity that reaches out to the audience.

John Tubridy: John’s songs get to the heart of the human condition as well as incisively taking on the pomposity and hypocrisy of some of our institutios and leaders. ‘The Banking Royal Commission Song’ is a fine example and has received lots of airplay.

Danny Noonan and wife Sam - great local musicians and protestors extraordinaire!

And lending support with a song, The Illawarra Union Singers plus other surprise acts
