The Palm Beach County Beekeepers Association is thrilled to welcome Dr. Jamie Ellis for our May Fun Meeting at a special location – Mounts Botanical Garden (Cooperative Extension UF/IFAS Building)!
Dr. Ellis will present “The Indispensable Nuc”, a must-hear talk for beekeepers of all experience levels.
What’s a “Nuc” and Why Should You Care?
Nucs (small honey bee colonies housed in small hives) are often overlooked, yet they are an indispensable tool in successful beekeeping. In this engaging session, Dr. Ellis will explain the benefits of using nucs and how they can improve your hive management, colony growth, and sustainability.

About Dr. Jamie Ellis:
Dr. Jamie Ellis is the Gahan Endowed Professor of Entomology in the Entomology and Nematology Department at the University of Florida. He holds a BS in Biology from the University of Georgia and a PhD in Entomology from Rhodes University in South Africa.
At the University of Florida, Dr. Ellis plays a leading role in extension, instruction, and research. His outreach efforts include programs like the UF/IFAS Bee College and the UF/IFAS Master Beekeeper Program. He also mentors PhD and master’s students while leading over 30 active research projects in honey bee husbandry, conservation, and ecology.
Dr. Ellis is one of the top experts in the field of beekeeping, and this is a rare opportunity to hear from him directly!
