TOM (Taste of Malaysia) 2025
Event description
TOM (Taste of Malaysia) 2025 is more than just a food event—it's a celebration of unity, culture, and the rich flavors of Malaysia. Held in conjunction with Malaysia's Independence Day, "Merdeka Day" on August 31, this gathering brings together communities from all walks of life to honor our nation's independence through the universal joy of food.
In a country as richly diverse as Malaysia, our cuisine tells the story of who we are—layered, colorful, and beautifully blended. From the fiery depth of sambal to the comforting aroma of coconut rice, every dish holds a memory, a tradition, and a reason to gather.
The Malaysian Club of Chicago (MCC) invites you to explore this delicious heritage in the most authentic way possible: by sharing a meal. Whether you grew up with the sizzling sound of satay grilling or are discovering these flavors for the first time, you’ll find something to savor and celebrate.
We’re proud to showcase a dynamic mix of local vendors and passionate home chefs, each offering dishes that represent Malaysia’s multicultural (Malay, Chinese, Indian, Nyonya) soul.
Experience the excitement of live cooking with hot favorites prepared right before your eyes:
Chicken & Lamb Satay grilled over open flames, smoky Char Kuey Teow stir-fried nonstop in sizzling woks, golden Lemongrass Fried Chicken Wings cooked fresh on-site, and Apam Balik — crispy pancake turnovers made on brass grilles and filled with sweet peanut goodness, just like at Malaysian night markets.
Expect a mouthwatering spread featuring:
Nasi Lemak, Mee Siam, Mee Goreng (V), Nasi Campur, Fried Tofu Sumbat (V), Roti Canai, Curry Chicken, Nyonya Kuih, Musang King (MSK)👀, Teh Tarik—and more!
🍽️ All food is served on a first-come, first-served basis.
🍛 Menu items are subject to change—we’re just as excited as you are about the delicious surprises in store!
Join us as we honor Malaysia’s independence by coming together in celebration—through food, fellowship, and the flavors that unite us all.
