MCF Seminar: How governance enables the climate resilient development of healthcare systems
Event description
As climate change continues to accelerate, healthcare systems face a profound and complex challenge: how to deal with increased demand due to climate related illnesses and disasters, whilst reckoning with the significant contribution their operations makes to greenhouse gas emissions and environmental harms.
In this seminar, University of Melbourne PhD Student, Sophie Robinson, synthesises insights from Australia, Thailand and the United Kingdom to explore how healthcare systems can begin to navigate these intersecting pressures and govern to improve climate resilience. By doing so, she uncovers the enabling and constraining governance characteristics for climate resilient development. Sophie's research builds foundational knowledge of describing and assessing effective policy and governance frameworks while developing practical and theoretical pathways that can drive green transformations across global healthcare networks.
