Event description

MDC Meet-up's is excited to continue to build our online community. We've loved the flexibility our monthly meetup's had in 2020 to welcome new interstate and overseas community members and we're looking forward to coming together every month to discuss pertinent issues in development practice.

October topic:
Beyond Buzzwords: Using Technology for Participation of Local Partners/Communities in Development

Lead Conversationalist: Delvin Varghese, Research Fellow at Action Lab

Delvin is a Research Fellow based in Action Lab (Faculty of IT at Monash University). He designs technologies to support NGOs in empowering local communities in International Development. He’s worked with NGOs across Asia, Africa and South America such as Oxfam, Caritas and many different Red Cross and Red Crescent societies.

This is an informal session (not a webinar!).

We encourage participants to share their development experiences and contribute to the discussion.

Can’t join for this one? MDC Meet-Ups will take place on the first Wednesday of every month. Watch out for this space for more!

These are free events, however, we encourage those who are in a position to do so to make a donation to cover costs.

    About MDC Meet-ups

Join members of the Melbourne Development Circle community for an informal online discussion about how International Development practitioners (and researchers) are adapting, innovating and reacting to the challenges of work in this moment. We know that COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the sector, and will continue to do so for some time, and the impacts are being felt around the world. This event will provide the chance for those involved in the sector to connect, share experiences and ideas about how we can all adjust and find a new way of working and collaborating into the future. Follow our Facebook page for updates.
