Meanjin For Palestine

Welcome to Meanjin for Palestine - Brisbanes very own Thowra event. 

You might not know what a Thowra is; it is an Arabic word ( ﺛَﻮﺭَﺓ ) and it directly translates to ‘revolution’ 

And that is exactly what we are - we are bringing people together in this time of change and desperation and uniting in one revolution. 

We are combining music, art, food, poetry, beauty and culture all in one space. 

Who are we? 

We are two girls in search for the people who would like to join us in providing financial aid for our Palestinian brothers and sisters who have suffered at the hands of the oppressor. 

We are: Nenna, 22 years old and a beauty therapy student, and Lotus, 20 years old and proud business owner. We’re two best friends teaming up for a cause that is so much bigger than us. 

We are calling for all those uniting in Meanjin to join us raising funds for TAQWA QLD. 

This magical event is 100% non profit and the purpose is to help displaced families from Gaza settle into Meanjin and re build their lives that have been completed decimated. 

These families have faced unimaginable hardships in Gaza and are now seeking refuge and a fresh start in our community. By coming together, we can provide not just financial aid but also a sense of belonging and hope for a brighter future. 

As a privileged Australian community, we hone the ability to foster a sense of financial support and empathy for our brothers and sisters both in Palestine, fighting for their life- and right here in Brisbane (Meanjin), fighting for their freedom. 

Your involvement will not only make a tangible difference but also send a powerful message of compassion and solidarity. 

Together, we can create a welcoming environment and support system for our brothers and sisters in need. Your contribution, whether big or small, will have a lasting impact on their lives.
