    Event description

Camberwell Girls Grammar School proudly presents Medea.

She invokes Themis, daughter of Zeus, who witnessed those promises which drew her across from Asia to Hellas.”

Medea may have been written thousands of years ago, but it is a classic tragedy, still studied today in VCE Literature.

In Ancient Greece, attending theatre was viewed as a civic duty. It is where they contemplated human nature and where they went to appreciate the skill of telling stories (using speech, song and movement). This year, we are proud to present a strong cast of story tellers who have been training in the art of speech and voice with Janine Watson (Bell Shakespeare), Tadashi Suzuki Method of Acting with Angelique Zhou (VCA / The Thursday Group) and will be accompanied by an exhilarating chorus of Taiko Drummers trained by Toshi Sakamoto. Designed to be highly theatrical and stylised in its storytelling, this production will challenge your thinking and thrill your senses!

    Cast A: Wednesday 26th and Friday 28th

    Cast B: Thursday 27th and Saturday 29th

Please note this production contains live drumming and mature themes. Recommended for ages 13 and up.
