Description

Building your Media Literacy Toolkit: Body Image and Eating Disorders Awareness Week (BIEDAW) 2026 Webinar

As part of BIEDAW 2026, Eating Disorders Victoria (EDV) and the National Eating Disorder Collaboration (NEDC) are offering a free webinar to the community about media literacy.

The webinar aims to support individuals in developing media literacy skills to navigate media messages and build a more supportive relationship with body image.

During this webinar, we will explore:

  • How media messages can influence wellbeing

  • The ways that media content is designed to influence us

  • Practical strategies for building your media literacy toolkit

  • How to recognise and respond to unhelpful media messages

  • Where to find further information and support

Through attending the webinar, you will be able to:

  • Develop a greater understanding of how the media can influence body image, wellbeing, and the way we feel about ourselves

  • Recognise common media tactics that promote diet culture and unrealistic appearance ideals

  • Learn about practical strategies for critically engaging with media content

  • Learn how to respond to unhelpful media messages and where to go for support

Whether you're hoping to better understand the media messages that we all encounter daily, support your body image and wellbeing, or build a toolkit for taking care of yourself or responding to unhelpful messages, this webinar will provide the practical tools and skills to help you navigate the media landscape with greater awareness and confidence.
