Event description

RNG (Randomness in Games)

What is randomness in games? When should designers embrace it, and when should they reduce it?

Richard Garfield designed the first trading card game, Magic: The Gathering. Soon after it was published, he left academics to design and study games full time. Since then he has designed many games, consulted on game design with many companies, and coauthored a textbook used in many game design courses: The Characteristics of Games. Game design remains a passion, he considers himself a lifelong student of games.

Please note that this will be an on-campus/Zoom hybrid event.
