Event description

We are presenting a 40-minute webinar on common medicolegal pitfalls in a skin cancer practice, focused on GP practices with a special interest in skin cancer work. We will look into areas of most complaints and indemnity claims, as well as explore strategies to mitigate these risks. The discussion will include the standard of care expected in a skin cancer clinical practice, practical ways on how to meet these standards, and obligations associated with referrals/follow-ups. This session will also include an overview on the Medicare item numbers used in skin cancer surgery, with tips on minimising misuse and avoiding audits. The webinar will also include an anonymous Q&A session.

This session will be presented by Dr Lily Vrtik, a Brisbane plastic surgeon who subspecialises in skin cancer surgery. Dr Vrtik has also been working in medical indemnity and health regulation since 2017. She obtained a Masters of Health Law from the University of Sydney in 2022.

This free webinar is sponsored by Classroom4Doctors and is open to all medical and nursing practitioners in Australia. It will be recorded, which will be available for viewing 14 days afterwards. You must register by 20th May to attend or to receive the recording.
