New to Auckland?

Been here a while but finding it hard to meet people?

You're not alone.

This started as a Reddit post, and the response showed just how many of us are in the same boat.

So let's actually meet.

Dr Rudi's have kindly given us a space for a relaxed, no-pressure evening. No agenda, just a chance to chat and meet some new people.

When: Wednesday 11 November, from 6pm
Where: Dr Rudi's, Viaduct Harbour

What to expect
• Entry is totally free. Dr Rudi's are giving us the space at no cost, so please support them by buying your drinks and food at the bar. Soft drinks and food count just as much as beer!
• Come solo or bring a friend. Most people will be coming on their own.
• Think of it like a friend inviting you to their families gathering where you don't know anyone yet. Everyone's friendly and there to meet people.
• Speak to the host at the door they will point you to the area.

Do

• Come as you are and who you are - love geology’s and rocks - great! Into cooking - fantastic!

• Say hi to someone standing on their own. They'll probably be relieved.

• Move around and chat to a few different people.

• Be respectful. People will come from lots of different cultures, identities and beliefs.

• Stay for as long as your social battery has charge.

• If anything / anyone makes you uncomfortable, let someone know.

Don't
• Treat it as a dating event. It's about making friends - if your sole purpose is to ‘hook-up’ please skip this event.

• Pitch your business or recruit for anything.

• Pressure anyone to drink, stay late or share their details.

• Worry about being awkward. Everyone's in the same boat.

And something that shouldn't need saying, but I will:

Respect people's boundaries. No means no.

This is an informal, community-run meetup. Everyone attends at their own risk and is responsible for their own behaviour, safety and belongings. The organisers aren't responsible for the actions of attendees.

• This is a licensed venue, so it's 18+.
• Spaces are limited. If you can't make it, please cancel your ticket so someone else can come.
