    Event description

Designing a GenAI Literacy course - a Students as Partners Initiative at UTS

What better way to teach GenAI literacy than by having students design and develop the course for their peers? Involving students in the course creation process not only empowers them but also ensures the curriculum aligns with the interests and needs of their fellow learners.

In this presentation, Shayaan Malik will introduce the "Students as Partners" initiative she led to design a GenAI Literacy course at UTS.

Prior to studying learning design at UTS, Shayaan was a career coach in the adult education space for 10+ years. After a stint as a digital nomad in Asia and a reflective career gap year, she has transitioned into learning design with the goal of crafting stellar learning experiences for students and organisational employees.

Shayaan will discuss the project, outlining the design process and the tools used, including Canvas, H5P, Genially, and HTML. Nearing completion of her Graduate Certificate in Learning Design at UTS, Shayaan's involvement in this initiative demonstrates how student collaboration can significantly enhance both learning outcomes and engagement.

As part of our University of Technology Sydney Graduate Certificate in Learning Design and related Create: Creating Interactive Multimedia Objects microcredential we invite guest speakers from industry to share their knowledge and experiences with our students (we call these our 'Expression Sessions'). We’ve made our upcoming Expression session, featuring Shayaan Malik, open to the public, and it is also included in the program for this year’s FASStival showcase.

In-person at UTS and online via Zoom: Wednesday 11 December at 4-5 pm

    Join our session with Shayaan!

This event is part of the UTS FASStival 2024 program.
