Meet the Artists - Urbanscapes

Meet the Urbansapes Artists, Maxie Ashton, Luna Chan, Patrick Fitzgerald, and Maria Tomasic, in an informal atmosphere to discuss their latest exhibition at Gallery . 

Urbanscapes
The artists explore the urban environment and city life, and the complexity of such spaces in different ways. The built environment encompasses lines and repetitive patterns sometimes hinting at abstract forms. The social aspects of urban life range from ideas of community and cooperation through to anonymity, loneliness and alienation. Daily routines and rituals such as coffee making provide a personal space for reflection and a shared sense of togetherness. Although cities are composed of constructed materials replacing the natural environment, some animals still find a place to exist and it is the green areas and animal life that allow city dwellers some sense of connection to the natural world. Each artist will address some of these different aspects of the urban environment.
