Meet the Bees - Guided Tour of the Centennial Park Bees, Honey Tasting and Candle Rolling - 2027
Description
Get up close and personal with the bees of Centennial Parklands in this unique hands-on experience. Join one of our resident beekeepers from Rooftop Bees and discover the fascinating world of bees, learning about their vital role in the environment and food security.
After an introduction to beekeeping, you'll suit up and step inside the apiary for an exclusive look inside a working beehive. Handle frames filled with bees and honey, taste honey straight from the hive, and learn more about how bees produce the honey we enjoy. To complete the experience, you'll roll and create two beeswax candles to take home.
Participants aged 12 years and over are welcome to attend. Those under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and each attendee requires their own ticket.
Please wear closed-toe shoes and long pants, and avoid wearing strong perfumes or deodorants. Participants will be required to sign a waiver. For safety reasons, people with allergies to bee stings or a history of anaphylaxis are strongly advised not to participate.
Meeting point: Centennial Homestead, 1 Grand Drive, Centennial Park.
