Meet the Researchers - Sutherland Campus, UOW - Why the differences between the sexes matter in in exercise and health

Event description

University Impact presents Meet the Researchers - Why the differences between the sexes matter in exercise and health. Hear from UOW researcher and neuroscientist Dr Samara Walpole and researcher Dr Ric Lovell, an Associate Professor in Sport & Exercise Science, both from the University of Wollongong's School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences. Both Samara and Ric will present a comprehensive overview of their research in women's sport and exercise programs in targeted brain and mental health interventions. The discussion will explore why it is important to cater for sex-specific practices to ensure optimum physical and mental performance.

This event is open to the public, and both presentations have been designed with a diverse audience in mind. High school students are also welcome and encouraged to attend.

Each presentation will last 15-20 minutes and be followed by an interactive Q&A session where the audience are invited to engage with the researchers.

Ex-Matilda's player Belinda Barter will join us to explore and recount some of her experiences as a woman in elite sport. Join us to hear some engaging stories from Belinda.

Don't miss this opportunity to hear about this research and its implications for women's sport and health, and future medications.

As this presentation is medical in nature, medical staff may be able to use their attendance towards professional development activities. On request, attendees can receive a certificate of attendance. Please speak to our team at the event.
