Meeting in the Middle - Sydney, 2026

Please see below email communication from the 2026 hosts:

As you may already be aware, Meeting in the Middle is scheduled to take place from Thursday, 21 May to Saturday, 23 May 2026.

This year, the event will be hosted across two Sydney campuses:

• Northside Montessori School, Pymble - Thursday, 21 May and Saturday, 23 May

• Sydney Montessori School, Gymea - Friday, 22 May

Accommodation arrangements:

To book accommodation at the Vibe Hotel, North Sydney at a discounted conference rate, please use this link MiM2026.

Transport arrangements:

Thursday 21 May 2026

• Northside Montessori School has arranged a bus from Turramurra Station to take the 3-minute drive to Northside.

• Bus to pick up at Turramurra Station at 8:30 and 9:00am.

• A bus will be available to drop off to Turramurra Station leaving Northside at 4:45pm.

Friday 22 May 2026

• A bus will collect attendees from the Vibe Hotel to Sydney Montessori School School at 8:00am.

• The bus will be available for the return journey to Vibe Hotel in the evening, however attendees will need to make their own arrangements to travel to the conference dinner venue 465 The Avenue (465 Victoria Avenue Crn Brown &, Railway St, Chatswood NSW 2067) for dinner.

Saturday 23 May 2026

• Northside Montessori School will offer a bus service from Turramurra Station at 8:45 am for the short drive to Northside.

• A return service will be offered at 3:45pm to drop attendees to Turramurra Station.

Our theme for this year is:

“Work, Dignity, and Belonging: Adolescent Contributions”

We are now inviting expressions of interest from speakers and presenters who would like to contribute to the program. This is a wonderful opportunity to share practice, research, and ideas with colleagues across the Adolescent Montessori community. If you are interested in presenting, please contact Adam Scotney (Principal of Northside Montessori School) on adam.scotney@northsidemontessori.nsw.edu.au

We are also planning a panel of adult Montessori graduates on Saturday, 23 May to share the legacy and empowerment of a Montessori education. If you know of Montessori graduates who would be willing to participate in the panel, please contact Margaret Kroeger on margaret.kroeger@northsidemontessori.nsw.edu.au

About Meeting in the Middle:

Meeting in the Middle is a grassroots initiative, with practitioners in Montessori Adolescent Programs coming together to share ideals, ideas and practice. It is built on the belief that we have much to learn from and much support and inspiration to offer each other. Our MAPs are built on common key principles yet are unique and creative reflections of our contexts. We share many similar issues and tensions, and we’ve tackled these in various ways. It is always revitalising to have these conversations with one another.
