The Melbourne Energy Institute’s annual Symposium returns on Wednesday 28 October, bringing together researchers, students, industry representatives and energy experts to explore the research and innovation shaping Australia’s energy future.

As Australia navigates the opportunities and challenges of the energy transition, MEI Symposium 26 will foster discussion across disciplines and sectors, highlighting practical solutions to deliver a reliable, affordable and sustainable energy system.

The symposium will showcase cutting-edge energy research from across the University of Melbourne and feature distinguished local and international keynote speakers, leading academics and outstanding graduate students. Through a diverse program of presentations and discussion, attendees will discover the ideas, technologies and approaches driving progress towards a low-carbon future.

A key feature of the event is MEI’s Student Poster Competition, which brings together research students from across the University of Melbourne to present work spanning materials, systems, industry and energy transition challenges. Open to undergraduate, master's and PhD students, the competition provides a platform for emerging researchers to communicate complex ideas to a broad interdisciplinary audience. Posters will be assessed on research quality, clarity of communication and contribution to addressing energy-related challenges, highlighting the next generation of talent shaping Australia's energy future.

POSTER COMPETITION:

There are over $7,000 in prizes to be won. The top 3 Student Posters in each category of energy research, as judged by MEI Research Program Leaders, will win the following:

1st prize - $1,000

2nd prize - $500

3rd prize - $300
