Melbourne: OnaKase Layers of Legacy
Event description
Step into an intimate, omakase-style coffee tasting that explores the next chapter of Kenyan coffee. Guided by our expert baristas, you’ll experience the groundbreaking work of David Maguta, a third-generation producer whose innovative approach is shifting the landscape of African coffee.
David recently made history, winning Best Natural Coffee in Africa—an award that has traditionally gone to Ethiopian producers. His coffees represent a bold evolution in fermentation and processing, and this is your chance to taste that future firsthand.
With just six guests per session, this carefully curated experience is designed to be personal, immersive, and deeply connected to the story behind each cup.
We’ll explore the journey from classic washed Kenyan profiles to new and upcoming nitrogen fermentation techniques, paired with thoughtful flavour moments that highlight the role of fermentation in our everyday lives.
Whether you’re a seasoned coffee pro or simply curious to taste something truly unique, this is an evening of discovery you won’t want to miss.
As part of this event, we’ve also provided the option to make a voluntary donation to our partner organisation, Water for Good—a not-for-profit transforming lives by providing access to reliable water, sanitation, and hygiene in the communities that need it most. Their work is driven by sustainability, innovation, and long-term, community-led solutions.
Spaces are strictly limited. If demand exceeds expectations, we’ll look at adding extra sessions.
