Event description

Beyond the classroom: Student voice and skill-building in co-curricular activities

Melbourne Plus Community of Practice

Session 1: Student Voice x Community Engagement

Getting involved in co-curricular activities can build important skills and enrich the student experience – but can we do more to embed student voice in the activities on offer?

Join us for an engaging and interactive session that highlights a variety of student roles in the community and looks closely at how to create meaningful opportunities through co-curricular activities.

As our first Melbourne Plus Community of Practice for 2024 the session will feature a showcase of Community Engagement activities, followed by an interactive workshop on embedding student voice.

In the showcase, students and staff will share a series of quick insights into their experience of 4 different co-curricular activities that build skills in Community Engagement.

In the workshop, we will discuss strategies that both staff and students can use to ensure meaningful and authentic student participation in co-curricular activities.

Workshop facilitator:

Joli Price: As Programs Manager (Students and Education), Office of the Provost, Joli's work focuses primarily on student voice initiatives that aim to place students at the heart of university strategy and decision-making.
