ABOUT THIS EVENT

Its time for another incredible adventure south of Melbourne as we explore the jaw dropping coast of Portsea and explore the fascinating history of Australia's involvement in world war 1 and 2 told through a series of gun batteries and barracks that have stood the test of time. 

Our Social Walks are a great way to get outside, get your body moving and make some amazing new friends along the way!

WHAT TO EXPECT

Be ready to step back in time and explore the rich military history of this iconic fort with its strategic location overlooking the entrance to Port Philip Bay. The rugged coastline continues to impress throughout the whole walk as we spend a lot of the day enjoying the pristine waters of the bay. Whether you're a history buff, nature lover or just want to escape to a peaceful location for the day then this is definitely the walk for you.

Once the hike is finished we will make our way to a nearby café for food and a much needed coffee!

START TIME AND MEET LOCATION

Meeting Location: London Bridge Car Park

Meeting Time: Arrive 10:00am for a strict 10:30am Departure.

Parking options: There is plenty of free parking at the meeting location.
NOTE: Arriving on time is critical to the Walk getting away on time. Participants not checked-in by 10:20am may be left behind.
CARPOOLING: Need help getting a lift to the hike, feel free to post in the Melbourne Social Walks Facebook Group

WHAT TO BRING

- Water (at least 2L)

- Snack food for the walk if necessary 

- Money for the lunch afterwards

WHAT TO WEAR

- Comfortable sturdy walking shoes

- Weather suitable clothing (check weather the night before) 

- Hat or Beanie

- Optional towel and bathers

FINISH

The Hike should take around 5.5 - 6 hours with small breaks in-between to enjoy the unique forts and tunnels and to take in the breathtaking coastal views. 

We will finish where we started where we can all head off to meet again for lunch in Portsea.
