Get Ready for an Epic Adventure!

The Big Drift at Wilsons Promontory is a must-visit for its stunning, ever-changing landscape of vast, shifting sand dunes set against rugged coastal and bushland scenery. The relatively short hike to the dunes offers both a physical challenge and a sensory escape, with sweeping views of pristine beaches, wild nature, and nearby islands. It’s a peaceful, less-crowded spot perfect for adventurers, photographers, and nature lovers, providing an unforgettable opportunity to disconnect, explore, and enjoy the park’s unique beauty in solitude.

Mount Bishop is one of Wilsons Promontory's hidden gems, offering incredible views and a rewarding hike that showcases the park’s diverse landscapes. The summit provides panoramic vistas of the surrounding wilderness, including the coastline, neighboring islands, and the rugged hills that stretch inland. The hike itself is a thrilling mix of challenging terrain, beautiful forests, and open rocky outcrops, making it perfect for those who enjoy a bit of adventure. What makes Mount Bishop truly awesome is the sense of accomplishment when you reach the top—you're rewarded with one of the best views in the Prom, all while feeling like you've discovered a secluded corner of nature. It’s a perfect spot for both keen hikers and anyone wanting to experience the Prom’s wild beauty from a higher perspective!

Important Note: Please note that there are no meet-up tickets available for this event. All tickets include transport to and from St. Paul’s Cathedral. Spots are limited, so act fast to secure your place and avoid missing out!

START TIME AND MEET LOCATION

MEETING LOCATION: Normanby Rd, Caulfield Station

MEETING TIME: Arrive between 7:40 -7:50am SHARP to meetup and check in for an 8:00am sharp Departure (Plan to arrive early and give yourself extra time for parking and finding the group).

NOTE: Arriving on time is critical to this event getting away on time. Participants not checked-in by 7:50 may be left behind and forfeit their ticket.

PARKING: There is free parking at Caulfield Station

CARPOOLING: Need help finding a ride to the hike, feel free to post in the Melbourne Social Walks Facebook Group.

WHAT TO BRING

- Water (at least 2-3L)

- Snack food for the hike and afteroon

- Picnic Lunch.

- Money for café (there will be spots to and from for toilet breaks and coffee)

- Please bring a backpack only as there is limited storage space on the bus. Your bag will have to sit on your lap or under a seat for the journey.

WHAT TO WEAR

- Comfortable weather suitable walking shoes - Good qualify shoes with good grip is recommended.

- Comfortable Weather Suitable Clothing.

- Sun Protective Hat / Beanie, and/or Sunscreen

FINISH

This trip will run from 7:40am to around 8:00pm starting from and returning to Caulfield station.

Due to the very high costs of organising a bus and driver for this event, there is a strict cancellation period. No cancellations with-in 7 days of the departure. Tickets can be re-sold though if something comes up to prevent you from attending.
