Happy Birthday Ads and Dan! Come join the Social Walks dynamic duo as they celebrate not just St Patricks Day in style but also their 37th birthdays at the Royal Botanic Gardens (Dan's birthday is the 17th March & Ads is the 18th March), which will be followed by a celebratory drink afterwards!

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens is a lush, expansive green space located in the heart of Melbourne, Australia. Spanning 38 hectares, it is home to a stunning variety of native and exotic plants, with a particular emphasis on the Southern Hemisphere's flora. Established in 1846, the gardens are a peaceful oasis offering visitors a chance to explore scenic landscapes, serene lakes, and winding paths.

The Shrine of Remembrance, located within the Royal Botanic Gardens, is a prominent war memorial dedicated to honoring the men and women who served, particularly those who served in World War I. Opened in 1934, the Shrine has since become a symbol of remembrance for all Australian military personnel.

The walk through the gardens and around the shrine will be around 6km in length and is rated as easy.

START TIME AND MEET LOCATION

Meeting Location: Out the front of the Mercantile Rowing Club, 5 Boathouse Dr, Melbourne VIC 3004

Meeting Time: Arrive 5.30pm for a 6:00pm SHARP Departure. The walk should finish around 7.30pm followed by a visit to our favourite place Transport for a birthday drink and meal.

Access: Flinders St Station is across the Yarra River and a short walk to the meeting location.

WHAT TO BRING

- Water (at least 1-2L)

- Snack food for the hike

- Money for a celebratory drink afterwards

WHAT TO WEAR

- Comfortable Walking Shoes

- Comfortable Weather Suitable Clothing (check weather the night before).

- Hat / Sunglasses & Sun Protection

FINISH

The Hike should take around 1.5 - 2 hours with small breaks to enjoy some sightseeing and for some group photos.

We finish back where we started where we can gather to then head to Transport across the river.
