ABOUT THIS EVENT

Join Nath, Dan & Ads for an EPIC Social Walks Expedition to the world famous Great Otways National Park and Great Ocean Road!

This will be an epic over night camping trip with world class hikes in the Otways on Saturday and Apollo Bay & Lorne on Sunday. The absolutely awesome campground we have secured for our trip is also a Koala habitat so we will literally be sleeping under trees with Koalas in them! 

Numbers are strictly capped for this event so grab your ticket quickly if you are keen to join us!

Our Social Walks are a great way to get outside, get your body moving and make some amazing new friends along the way!

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is an over night camping trip and you will be required to bring your own food supplies and camping gear. We have a very limited number of tickets where camping equipment is provided. The equipment provided is a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat and camping pillow only.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Great Otways National Park & Great Ocean Road is one of the most iconic tourist destinations in Australia, famous the world over. You won't be disappointed by the stunning and picturesque views of the bass straight along the Great Ocean Road drive and the gorgeous rain forests teeming with wild life like Koalas, Wallabies, Kangaroos, echidnas and more!

The group will meet at the camp ground on the Saturday at midday (address will be on your ticket) and from there we will set up camp, have picnic lunch (BYO) and prepare for our first hike.

(NOTE FOR CARPOOLERS: If you need to organise a ride for this event, feel free to post in our Melbourne Social Walks Facebook group - but please note - you are responsible for your own transport to and from this event). 

After the first hike, we will head back to the camp site to cook up dinner and have a good old fashioned campfire (no fire bans permitting). The camp site we have secured have a full camp kitchen and BBQ area so you can cook up a storm! 

On the Sunday morning, we will rise early and make our way to Apollo Bay for Breakfast and a quick swim + jump from the Jetty before hitting the road to Lorne to chase some waterfalls on our second hike.

After the second hike is complete, we will convoy to Geelong via the Great Ocean Road monument for late afternoon / early dinner before we all head home to Melbourne. 

ABOUT THE CAMPSITE

The campsite has a fully equipped camp kitchen, bathroom, toilets and shower facilities. 

There are free BBQS, gas cookers, microwaves, kettles, a large commercial fridge and a wood fired oven that we can use.

Please note you need to supply all eating and cooking utensils.

THE HIKES

Hike 1 (Saturday) - Station Beach & Crayfrish Bay Hike - Moderate 12kms - 250M Elevation (undulating)

Hike 2 (Sunday) - The Canyon (Lorne Waterfalls Circuit) - Moderate 8kms - 300M Elevation (undulating)

Please note - A good level of fitness is require for these hikes. 

START TIME AND MEET LOCATION

Meeting Location: Otway's Camp Group - Address will be on your ticket. 

Meeting Time: Arrive between 12:00-12:30pm 

NOTE: There is no public transport to the campground or around the local area so you will need to have your own vehicle or carpool with someone to attend this trip. 

CARPOOLING: Need help finding a ride to the hike, feel free to post in the Melbourne Social Walks Facebook Group.

WHAT TO BRING

- Water (at least 2-4L for each hike) - Water is available at the Campsite.  

- Lunches and Snack food for both days/hikes

- Food & Drinks for Dinner Saturday night and Breakfast Sunday Morning (items can be purchased from the campsite store and you also store food in the camp kitchen fridge). 

- BYO Camping Equipment (Tent, Sleeping Bag, Pillow, Sleeping Mat, Camping Chair, Head Lamp/torch)

WHAT TO WEAR

- Comfortable Walking Shoes

- Comfortable Weather Suitable Clothing for 2 Days - Be prepared for warm weather conditions during the day and cool weather conditions at night (check weather the night before)

- Hat / Sunglasses & Sun Protection / Beanie

- Bathers & Towel for a cold swim

FINISH

Plan for two full days of adventuring!

We will aim to leave The great ocean road around 4pm and return to Melbourne around 7pm -the event times are not always perfect, so please allow for a later return time.
