Melbourne Young Adult book launch: The holy and the broken
Event description
Join journalist and educator Ittay Flescher for an open and honest discussion about change in the Middle East. When dehumanisation and destruction become the norm, the cycle must be broken. Following decades of dialogue facilitation between Jews, Muslims and Christians, Ittay Flescher believes that today's enemies can be the partners of the future. Join the Melbourne young adult launch of his first book, The holy and the broken, which challenges Palestinian and Israeli leaders, citizens, and their supporters worldwide to imagine a different reality in a book that will comfort the troubled and trouble the comfortable.Â
Ittay will speak about the book and there will be an opportunity for questions too. His book will be available for purchase and book signings. There will be pizza and drinks too!
Ittay Flescher is the Education Director at Kids4Peace Jerusalem, an interfaith movement for Israelis and Palestinians and the Jerusalem Correspondent for The Jewish Independent from Australia. As an insightful analyst of Israeli politics, he has been published in Haaretz, Crikey, ABC Religion and Ethics, Jerusalem Post, Fathom and many other publications and newspapers. Before moving to Jerusalem in 2018, he was a high school educator in Melbourne for 15 years, teaching Australian History, Jewish Studies and Religion and Society. Married with two children, he loves his family, religion, country, and all the people around him deeply, especially when they inspire and challenge him to reflect on his actions and be a better human.
This is a joint event between The Jewish Independent and Netzer, Hineni, and Habonim Dror youth movements as well as The Diller Teen Fellows and TaMar Melbourne.Â
