    Event description

Join us for Artist Talks on jewellery in scale at Pakenham Street Arts Space

Hosted by jeweller and public artist Melissa Cameron as part of her 'Banner and Badge' exhibition, Everett Hoffman will join Melissa to share insights on approaching jewellery-making in scale.

'Banner and Badge' is a solo exhibition presenting Melissa Cameron's take on the traditional forms of protest signage and adornment, banners and badges. It consists of impeccably crafted large hangings alongside works of fine jewellery, made from a raft of non-traditional materials.

Melissa Cameron is an artist, jeweller, writer, and designer. After nearly 12 years away she recently moved back home to Perth, Western Australia. Melissa describes herself as ‘a research jeweller’. Her interest and investigations into architecture, geometry, social justice, and the human body – influence each piece of jewellery she makes. Each piece the product of extensive research, meticulous preparatory drawings and precise execution in consciously selected materials.

Everett Hoffman is a cross-disciplinary artist who lives in Philadelphia with his partner and their dog Clementine. He received his MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University (2018) and his BFA from Boise State University (2013). He recently finished a three-year artist residency at Penland School of Craft (2020–23) and also completed a yearlong residency at Arrowmont School of Art and Craft (2018–19) and a three-month residency at the Baltimore Jewelry Center (2019).
