(In person) Members Forum: Let's Talk Housing

BDEF Autumn Members Forum

A space to chat all things BDEF plus our focus theme this month is Housing 🏘️

Join us for BDEF's autumn members forum. This session will include updates about what BDEF has been up to PLUS we want to have a conversation around housing. There have been some political decisions made about housing and Disability in Bristol recently and we want to make sure Disabled people's voices are being heard in this conversation.

We want to hear from our members about...

• General Experiences: What makes a home accessible and suitable for you?

• Finding and Applying for Housing (social or private): Have you experienced any barriers when searching for housing?

• Accessibility and Adaptations: Does your current home meet your access needs? Why or why not?

• Independent Living: Does your housing support you to live the life you want?

• Housing Services and Support: What has your experience been of estate agents, housing providers, councils, or support services?

• "Magic Wand": If you could wave a magic wand and change one thing about housing in Bristol that would have the biggest impact for you, what would it be?

We are wanting to hear what is impacting our community in housing most and what might improve the situation. We may have people joining this session who might be able to feed back to policy and decision makers on this topic also.

Our Members Forum's are for BDEF members only. If you would like to attend but you are not yet a member, sign up for free at our website.

Accessibility

Easton Community Centre have step-free access, an accessible toilet, a hearing loop (please let us know if needed) and a Disabled parking bay at the front of the building fits two vehicles.

They have a small number of free parking spaces available for visitors and there is permit free parking on any of the surrounding roads.

There are two train stops nearby but will require travel to get to Easton Community Centre. From Lawrence Hill station, it is a 9 minute walk. From Stapleton Road, it is an 11 minute walk. There is an e-scooter station along Chelsea Road to be able to park at.

There are bus stops close to Easton Community Centre. For the stops Devon Road and Russell Town Avenue, buses no. 6 and 7 stop at it. For Edward Street stop, buses no. 41 and 43 stop at it. For Lawrence Hill stop, buses no. 6,7, 41 and 43 stop at it. There are spaces to lock up your bike to the side of the centre.
