Event description
Memento Stitch
Embroidery Workshop with Louise Saxton
RMIT Gallery
Wednesday 2 April, 1 – 4PM
Join artist Louise Saxton in Memento Stitch, a hands-on embroidery workshop that explores reclaiming vintage fabrics through the power of stitching.
Inspired by her artwork Linen Draw in which family and heirloom names have been embroidered, participants will have the opportunity to honour a special person in their life. Learn about Saxton’s processes and motivations as you create your own personalised keepsake to take home.
Materials will be provided, however, you are also encouraged to bring your own piece of fabric from home to embroider. Linen doilies, tea cloths, tray cloths or handkerchiefs can be used, but fabric must be at least 15cm x 15cm.
While a basic knowledge of stitching is helpful, this workshop is suitable for all abilities.
Ticket Price - $30
Concession - $20
