Men's Group Breathwork: Canberra
Description
Gain new clarity and understanding of self, with Transpersonal Breathwork.
You are invited to join this unique community of men embracing their transformation and path of self-discovery.
This men's group will create space for you to embrace your growth, expand your awareness, shed outdated thoughts and behavioural patterns, foster connections and allow you to redefine and embrace your masculinity. Through the use of a transformational breathing technique called conscious-connected breathing (breathwork) and holistic psychotherapy, this men's group breathwork session will support you to:
access a deeper understanding of self and your experience of life;
quiet the thinking mind (mental chatter) and access the wisdom of the subconscious mind and body;
gain new information and clarity about life;
release old and outdated stories and patterns;
let go of held or 'hidden' physical, emotional and mental patterns and stories;
bring your heart, body and mind into alignment and greater flow; and
access a deeper understanding of your spirituality.
Transition Breath’s men’s groups are trauma-informed and apply holistic psychotherapy principles to every session. Transpersonal Breathwork is ideal for people experiencing mental health conditions such as chronic stress, anxiety and depression, processing trauma through a body-based therapy and wanting to find greater meaning in life.
This group breathwork session is held for anyone who identifies as a man. All levels of experience, all bodies, all types of sexuality and masculinity.

FAQs
- I'm new to breathwork, can I still join this group?
Yes - this breathwork group has a diverse range of experiences with breathwork. Some people completely new to breathwork, or are more familiar with yogic breathing, Wim Hof breathing and other forms of breathwork.
This group is welcoming of all people, with all levels of experiences to both men's groups and breathwork.
- What can I expect from this experience?
Breathwork is a non-linear practice, so we can never anticipate what we will experience one session from the next. However, each session has a usual process, which includes:
a short movement process to support grounding;
a group check-in, with each person sharing how they going and feeling, as well as their intention;
a body relaxation process, followed by a 1.5 hour transpersonal breathwork session (conscious connected breathing); and
a post-session sharing of their experiences.
Common experiences arising during a breathwork session include:
deep relaxation and release of stress in the body;
less mental energy (thoughts) and more stillness;
new insights and clarity about life;
strong sensations/energy in the body, often with heat and/or physical release;
accessing emotional material (crying, laughing, anger, grief etc);
connection to loved ones, both living and deceased; and
expanded sense of consciousness, beyond self (mystical experiences, connection to Earth, Spirit, Ancestors etc).
- I don't usually feel comfortable in spaces with lots of men, is this for me?
The absence of trauma-informed and supportive spaces for boys and men in our society means men's groups can feel daunting and flush up mixed feelings. Men's groups can model and reinforce "alpha" male culture, without being inclusive to the variety of ways men exist in this world, including sexuality, physicality, race and neuro-diversity.
This men's group bridges these gaps - all types of men are welcome, from all walks of life. In addition, this space prioritises somatic/body based experiences, rather than the group's process being led by the mind. This makes Men's Group Breathwork Canberra a very unique offering in the diversity of men's groups available in town.
- Is there any reason I cannot do breathwork?
Yes - there are a limited number of physical and psychological reasons you cannot do breathwork. These include:
People with cardiovascular problems (acute)
Some psychiatric conditions (psychosis)
Recent surgery or fractures deeming physical activity unsafe
Acute infectious illness
Epilepsy, severe hypertension or glaucoma.
