Mend & Mingle - 10th October
Description
Learn simple clothing‑repair skills that help reduce textile waste and extend the life of your garments with Jodie from A Fitting Connection.
There are 2 sessions available - please book into the one that suits.
Session 1: Visible Mending (10am - 11.30am)
Give your favourite clothes a second life in this hands-on workshop.
Visible mending is the creative art of repairing garments in a way that celebrates, rather than hides, the repair.
Learn techniques such as sashiko stitching, darning, patching, and decorative embroidery to transform worn or damaged clothing into unique pieces full of character.
Bring along an item that needs a little love or practise on provided materials. You'll leave with practical skills, creative inspiration, and a fresh appreciation for keeping clothes in use for longer.
Session 2: Stitch & Fix (12pm - 1pm)
Learn two of the most useful clothing repair skills in this practical, hands-on workshop.
You'll gain confidence sewing on buttons and hemming pants or skirts by hand, helping you keep your favourite clothes in use for longer.
Bring along a garment that needs a button reattached or a hem adjusted, or practise on supplied materials. You'll leave with simple, practical skills that can save clothes from being discarded and help reduce waste.
These events are part of Whitehorse City Council's Sustainable Whitehorse events program.
