About this training session
Now more than ever, organisations need to understand their legal obligations and have sound risk management processes in place when it comes to volunteers.
In this practical training session for volunteer-involving organisations, we’ll cover the legal basics around your safety obligations, how to manage risk and important things to note about insurance.
You’ll learn about:
Why safety is so important
The ‘duty of care’ your organisation owes its volunteers
Legal responsibility for the actions of volunteers
Occupational health and safety duties & child safety requirements
Risk management processes
Volunteer insurance
You’ll receive:
3-hours of practical, plain language training from a lawyer delivered online via Zoom
A copy of the recording (accessible for 3-months)
Top tips and additional resources to help you in the future

Justice Connect will record the training session and it will be available to all registered participants for an agreed period. After this time, the recording will expire and will not be available for participants to view but may be securely stored and used for internal purposes. If you do not want your personal information to be visible to other participants, you are able to join without your name and video showing (however, if you are comfortable, we would love to be able to interact with you and see your face). Justice Connect may use de-identified information provided to promote its services, raise funds or to advocate for improvements to the law or services that affect its clients. If requested, we may send your details to the training organiser (DFFH) for their records.
