Mental Health and Wellbeing Act: Information Session and Q+A

This event has passed Register

Event description

Join us for a member’s event where we will critically examine and discuss the new Mental Health and Wellbeing Act (2022).

The passing of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act will mark the beginning of a lot of the mental health reforms recommended by the Royal Commission, which VMIAC supports. However, this does not mean that we support every part of the bill. In a session facilitated by Simon Katterl and Flick Grey we will discuss what has changed, what hasn’t and major points of concern for the Consumer community.

There is a lot of work to be done to ensure that the Government acts on our concerns, including the embedding of the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities into all parts of the bill, and the complete elimination of seclusion and restraint.

We look forward to you joining us for what will surely be a meaningful and thought provoking conversation.
