Tue, 29 Jul, 7pm - 8:30pm EDT

Event description

Join us for the second virtual International Refugee Integration and Settlement Exchange (IRISE), a global gathering of organisations, groups and individuals involved in supporting refugees arriving through resettlement and other complementary pathways.

This IRISE Virtual Exchange explores the ways we think about and support the mental health and wellbeing of people (you!) who are working with and supporting refugees to settle in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States.

  • What are the key challenges of being a refugee support worker or helper when it comes to our own mental health and wellbeing?

  • How do we look after ourselves and each other in the context of supporting people who have experienced and are still impacted by harmful, unfair or unjust systems?

  • What practices, policies and support structures work well so that refugees resettling in our countries are welcomed by a workforce and communities that are healthy, effective and resilient?

In this session you will:

  • Hear from leaders that have been thinking about, developing programs and implementing strategies to support the mental health and wellbeing of refugee support workers.

  • Have an opportunity to talk to peers in other countries and share what is working well in your own context.

To ensure this event runs smoothly, pre-registration is essential. Registrations close Friday 25th July.

A link to the live meeting will be shared with registered participants one day prior to the event.

Before we meet: What do you think is working well to support the mental health and wellbeing of refugee support workers?

Answer this 3-question survey and we will compile promising ideas and practices to share during and after the event.
